Is Lazer Hair Removal Permanent?

Some people tell me after 5-6 times it is permanent, some people say the hair will eventually grow back and the lazer is only a temporary method for removing hair.

I don't know what to think anymore! Please help.

Is Lazer Hair Removal Permanent?

I found this site that might help explain:

Most consumers think "permanent" means lasting forever. Unfortunately, that's not always the case as it's used in advertising. For instance, a permanent wave in your hair is not really permanent, and a permanent marker is not necessarily permanent.

It's difficult to assess a new hair removal method that claims to be permanent. Most people figure that after a certain amount of time, it's unlikely that a hair will ever return. That's why several people, myself included, have suggested a specific definition of "permanent." Some of these definitions seem inadequate to me. One manufacturer claims their device is permanent based on results after 9 weeks. That's ridiculous. Waxing can last that long, and it's been clinically proven temporary.

For the purposes of hair removal, the hairfacts definition of "permanent" is being able to go a year after your final hair removal treatment without having to use another method of hair removal. Keep in mind that a year might not be long enough to determine true permanence, but most consumers would be happy to have one treatment a year.

The only method of clinically proven permanent hair removal is electrolysis. Some lasers and flash lamps have been able to achieve permanent hair reduction.

Sometimes it is. http://www.hairremovalnewyork.com/ That site gives permanent laser hair removal but usually, laser hair removal isn't permanent.

You know, I was told that after 6 treatments (and lots of money), the hair under my arms would be gone forever. Two years later, its as if I never had any treatments! I've seen people however who have had it done to their legs and it looked to me like there were no small holes where the hair would come back. They said that the laser removal was permanent for them and it looked like they could be right.

You look pretty scarey. Lazer hair removal has only been proven to work on dark, coarse hair. It won't remove peachfuzz. A lot of dermatologist do the lazer hair removal and yes it is permanent. It just takes having it done several times before it is permanent. Lazer hair removal is the only thing that does work .
